Norbu Lama
Two generations back, Norbu’s family migrated from the picturesque
Helambu valley to the eastern borders of Nepal, and then into Sikkim.
In 1985, after completing his studies in India, he came to settle down
in Kathmandu where since 1988, he has been practicing as a graphic designer.
Over the years Norbu’s creative genius has been well received
in Nepal’s media circuit. In 1988 he began his career as the in-house
graphic designer for Hotel Yak and Yeti’s sales and marketing
division, a testing time when desktop publishing was still in its infancy.
Computers were slow (and very expensive), and creating stylistic page
layouts (literally) involved an immense amount of handiwork.
Following a two-year’s stint with the Yak and Yeti, Norbu has
been successfully pursuing a freelance career ever since then. Showcased
here are some of the works he has produced.
